Kyoto is full of temples. Temples, temples, temples. We were only there for a few days and we weren’t going to dash from place to place till our minds were numb and our eyes watered. But discoveries still await us. Up behind the Hoyshinoya was the heart warming Senkoji Temple. Small, modest but deeply significant. The temple founder (who was the original owner of the estate the Hoyshinoya is situated on) built canals throughout the Kyoto region and dedicated the temple to the workers who had lost their lives in the construction of these canals.
